To be persuaded of something good is noteworthy. To be resolved in the propagation of
this good is commendable; even brave in a cynical and disoriented world.
This year’s school theme, “Persuaded and Resolved,” are twin ideas that reverberated in my mind as we approached the last quarter of 2025. Reflecting on the current culture within the Christian schooling community, I am even more convinced that genuine biblical education is indeed rare and precious. As I dwell in gratitude for our country’s 250th Birthday, I am reminded once again of the inextricable link between the absolutes in God’s Word and our national freedom. Our Sunday School teacher’s challenge on that week of the Fourth confronted me and strengthened my resolve: “Do you love our nation? Then build a church!” It cemented my faltering vision for Christian schooling. Translated to my own heart, the stern order declared: “Build the church: be more prayerful, humbly faithful, and totally committed!” Since I am persuaded that WCA is my main place of service within this church family, the connection between building my church and the propagation of Christian education through the school became clearer and even more urgent.
The preservation of genuine biblical Christian schools has always been an uphill climb, with the summit appearing to become unreachable every passing year. Challenges heighten the difficulty: post-Christian ideology, social media addiction, and an overall restlessness among the saved exacerbate the shortcomings and problems in even the best Christian schools in the country. Although valuable, better teaching techniques, more training seminars, and newer gadgets have never guaranteed the preservation, much less the propagation, of biblical Christian schools. Churches must continue to be built; more importantly, these churches must be built up. A sure way is through biblical Christian schools that extend the church’s reach in ways that would otherwise be improbable, if not humanly impossible.
For me, the resolution to laboriously continue in the path of biblical Christian schooling
is more than a passion. It stems from a conviction that was formed in my heart as a very young
teenager: “…I am not ashamed: for I know who I have believed, and am persuaded that He is
able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day” (II Timothy 1:12). At first,
this was all about the salvation of my soul, my eternal security. Now it is anything and everything that I have given back to Christ in response to His working in my life, including WCA, especially the souls unto whom we have ministered. These are the ones that have been “committed unto Him against that day,” and who can now claim: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38 & 39).
I am convinced that WCA is your church’s and my church’s good. My challenge then to my fellow Ambassadors is for us to advance this good. Do we truly love this nation? Then let’s build more churches that will be true to God’s Word and the gospel. Right afterwards, let’s resolve to build up these churches. We can start by educating and training our children who will one day be entrusted with the next generation, should Jesus tarry His Second Coming. If the needs arise, let’s offer parents a second voice in the nurturing and equipping of their children. Together, we shall persuade these precious souls to Christ, then mold them to be resolute choosers and doers of “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report” (Phil. 4:8). In the end, we can honestly say that we heeded the Apostle Paul’s admonition: “That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us” (II Tim. 1:14). This is more than commendable. This is worthy!
